It’s electric is coming tomorrow!! Show up. Todd Gardner, Jared Davis, Michael Auger and myself are showing robocentric works. The electric Maid in Tacoma Park. Assimilation time.

And Yuri’s Night is coming on April 10. Wired ran a piece on it, and a couple of my photos are featured. Pretty freaking cool if you ask me. And the robots are now heading over to the Wired offices to show them who’s boss.

Artomatic, Artomatic, Artomatic.

Runs from now until July 5. There has to be something there for you. Just go, you’ll like it. I’ve got 4 pieces there, which are new and never seen before. There are also around 1000+ other folks hocking their wares. From the bizarre to the sublime. From the freaky to the pointy, it’s all there.

Out of action for a little while, but I'm back, Jack. Tomorrow night, I'm going to be at Yuri's Night at the Warehouse. $20 gets you burlesque, and a science fair. Come to celebrate Yuri Gagarin's historic launch into space by getting drunk and looking at little green men.

Dahlak is done

I pulled down the Dahlak show on Tuesday. For all of you who came, thanks a bunch, and for those of you who missed it, better luck next time. Here's a taste of what you missed:

Coming up next.... Crafty Bastards. I will be selling dolls, robots and whatnots for rock bottom prices on September 28. And to give a taste of what's to come, I was interviewed by the City Paper about my methods and inspiration (I sound a little like a douche only because I was writing in an internet cafe in Rome, and when in Rome...)

Dahlak Reviewed in the Post

Dahlak was reviewed in the Post, and my stuff got a mention. Surreal? Sure I guess.

August 12, 2008

Dahlak went well. Of course, being a photographer, I managed to forget my camera. It will be up until September 2nd, so get on down.

I've generaged a small video for the masses. The compression is a little ugly, but it is what it is.

Dahlak

This Thursday, come down to Dahlak and have some martinis and stay for the robots. There will be an even dozen up for grabs. The night will then follow with open mic all night.

Solo at Dahlak

I will be opening on August 7 at Dahlak in Adam's Morgan. This one will be all me. Come by for the $5 martinis, Ethiopian food, and robots pounding on each other. It's bound to be a great time.

I'm BI-Costal!!

I am in 2 shows as of right now.

The first is called depARTed at the World of Wonder gallery in LA on the hollywood walk of fame. The show's theme is basically a tribute to those who died young and left their mark. My piece is Carol Anne, based on Heather O'Rourke who died at the age of 13 of an obstructed bowel. If you're anywhere near the walk of fame, you should go.

IIt's curated by Daniel Franziese. Who kicks some ass, by the way.

The second show is of course, ArtOmatic. It's back, and it's big as hell. And by big as hell, I mean big as hell. Over 1000 artists competing for your eyes and ears (and sometimes other senses). Seeing as I seem to have somehow been excluded from the artist catalog, my space on the 9th floor in area A5 is shown below.

It opens May 9 and runs through June 15. Stop by, it's totally worth it.

I was Cheated

The Sex Pistols once asked, “Do you ever feel like you’ve been cheated?” I do. I feel that I spent years figuring out all these things like shutter speeds, f-stops, focal lengths, shooting ratios, lighting and whatnot.

It’s all crap.

I realize that you need to transcend. Your medium is merely a vehicle to transmit emotion to your viewer, be it photography, painting, music, a plank of wood, a small carved pebble, or a ball peen hammer to the forehead.

I’m in too deep.

I can’t transcend, I can’t look past the device that is supposed to make the moment. So I’m stuck in a technical morass that there is no escape from. The shame of wanting so badly to make a statement and yet only becoming merely proficient at the technical aspects. Not the mastery of where one can say, “He’s a technical genius” but instead, merely a poseur. Technology has clouded my vision so I see nothing.

I feel like I was cheated.
